There are actors, directors of great museums and archaeologists of international standing, passing through events such as cultural and literature festivals scattered throughout Italy to original and audacious film productions. A careful work in the cultural field, that of NaxosLegge, of enhancement and support, which for 2021 assigns coveted awards in two distinct evenings and in two different areas.

What is Naxos Law

We asked Fulvia Toscano, the artistic director directly: "Naxoslegge has existed for 11 years. If I can summarize the profound meaning of the review, I would say that it is about cultural militancy. I purposely use a term, militancy, which seems to have disappeared from the lexicon and the imaginary. This idea, on the other hand, pushes us to organize Naxoslegge. Obviously with an immense dose of pleasure and fun. Especially without utilitarianism. Indeed, as a gift that the guests we welcome give to all of us and that, I hope, we give back to the community. We are deliberately and tenaciously out of date".

What are the prizes, in detail

Fulvia Toscano specifies: "In truth, the awards are three, because to that of Promoters of culture and Communicating the ancient, we add our award The canvas of Penelope to the knowledge of women, created together with Marinella Fiume who shares with me the direction of the section Le donne non perdono the thread and the curatorship of the Naxoslegge under40 series published by A&B.
The idea is to identify and recognize excellence, talents, which are spent in culture, some in a more visible way, others even behind the scenes. The award to the promoters that opens the festival on August 31 is more poly-thematic because it concerns different areas of making culture, while Communicating the ancient is conceived in synergy with the Naxos-Taormina Archaeological Park, directed by Gabriella Tigano: it aims to focus excellence in the sector of the promotion of classical culture.
"

NaxosLegge also rewards places, events and initiatives

This year, there will not be only people, among the awards, but places and events, capable of attracting attention and stimulating beauty and culture.

Among the winners there will also be Eleusis European capital of culture 2022-23 to which we strongly wanted to support Gorizia and Nova Gorica, together, European capitals of culture 2925. Naxos will therefore be a meeting point for a Europe of cultures and peoples, Naxos , the first Greek colony of Sicily, a borderland, from which Western Greece was born. A great symbol, a real and imaginative place for a close dialogue between cultural experiences that meet again in a strong idea of culture: a Europe that from the Mediterranean to Central Europe tells a story of great visions and great ideas.

The choice of winners is made in synergy with the management of the Park and with the scientific committee of the festival. Just look around and discover a lot of creativity and a lot of strength. We give our contribution, aware that we are not masters but guardians of the great Beauty that we have received as an inheritance. We hope to be up to it.
