“I love LEGO - Florence” is the title of the exhibition that can be visited at the Museum of the Innocents. The exhibition, inspired by fantastic scenarios, monuments and works of art among the most famous in the world, will remain open to the public until January 31, 2022. In the six hundred year old institution, which has always been committed to welcoming, defending and promoting the rights of children and adolescents, the works already present will dialogue with the exhibition in an exhibition space of over 2 thousand square meters.

A concentrate of art and creativity

“I love LEGO - Florence”, open to the public on Wednesday 13 October, is an emotional journey through seven dioramas created by one of the most important collectors in Europe. A real feast for the eyes, a concentrate of art and creativity that captivates adults and children. The masterfully represented scenarios are different and evocative. Among these, the legendary adventures of pirates, the conquest of space, medieval landscapes and ancient Rome. Next to them, site-specific reproductions of two iconic monuments of Florence signed by the Milanese artist Luca Petraglia: Giotto's Campanile , facade of the Basilica of Santa Croce. Equally interesting and spectacular, the oils on canvas by the contemporary painter Stephen Bolcato. These are reinterpretations in the “LEGO men” version of the most famous paintings in the history of art, such as the iconic one Gioconda by Leonardo da Vinci. Also present are the comic vignettes-installations by LEGOlize, humorous page born in 2016.

"I love LEGO", bricks

130 thousand bricks to reproduce the symbolic monuments of the city

There is great interest in the exhibition made with colored LEGO bricks, still a favorite game for children today. But how many did it take to reproduce the monuments that symbolize the city of Florence in the world? Giotto's Bell Tower, dating back to 1300, was built with 100 thousand bricks and measures more than three meters. For the facade of the Basilica of Santa Croce, built in the Gothic style between 1853 and 1863, it was enough 30mila.

Designed for families

“I love LEGO - Florence” is organized under the patronage of City of Florenceand Chamber of Commerce of Florence and Institute of the Innocents, and produced and organized by In Your Event e Piuma in collaboration with artemisia. Connected to the exhibition there are many activities and workshops for families. Among these, the "character hunt", focused on the main figures revisited over the years by LEGO: da Harry Potter to Dart Vader, from Batman to Homer of the Simpsons.

A party for the little ones

“I love LEGO - Florence” enriches the Museo degli Innocenti, a place that combines works, architecture and documentary memory. Located in the monumental complex designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, and created to exhibit the works of art of the ancient Spedale (a large reception center for children), today the Museum allows its visitors to discover and enjoy a unique cultural heritage in the world.

A heritage linked to the activity carried out in favor of children who could not have been raised by their families of origin. The colorful exhibition inspired by the well-known LEGO bricks, presented at a press conference on 12 October, is an unmissable event. World-famous (it has more than 500 visitors worldwide), it offers anyone who comes to visit it the opportunity to admire, with a single ticket, a magnificent combination of past and present. Designed in particular to capture the attention of the little ones, it provides for the latter ad hoc activities combined with parties and interactive games.
