A new record for Italy and the Sicilia where it was madethe largest arancino in the world in Piazza Duomo a Messina.
The megarancino
Once again, an iconic gastronomic product from Sicily, known throughout the world, is made in XXL dimensions.
Supporting this undertaking, certified by the Guinness Book of Records, is the Municipality of Messina, its departments and Confcommercio.
Authors of megarancino sStefano and Davide were the owners of the Panyllo rotisserie of Messina. The two trained for weeks in preparation, had to undergo tests and involved the entire province.
The arancino was prepared last September 30th in the central Piazza Duomo, packed with curious and greedy people, waiting to see the record-breaking arancino.
The title for the largest arancino in the world
Those who decreed the Messina arancino as the largest in the world were: Lorenzo Veltri, judge designated by the Guinness commission and present in the "Record Show" broadcast, hosted on Canale 5 by Gerry Scotti, the metric inspector Salvatore Ciulla , the biologist Rosalba Comerci. The authors said they were satisfied and happy with the achievement of this undertaking.
The ingredients
For the preparation of the arancino, typical quality ingredients present in the province of Messina were used, in particular: Galati Mamertino, Giardini Naxos, Montalbano Elicona, Novara di Sicilia and Tripi. They were employed cheeses, meat, spices, vegetables.
As in Catania, Ragusa, Syracuse, also in Messina it is called arancino and is made with the traditional pointed shape. We wanted to create the classic rice arancini with ragù and cheese dressing in an extra large form.
Record numbers
The arancino weighs well 56 kilograms, it's tall 60 cm and has a diameter of 55. The people from Messina beat their neighbors from Catania who in 2019 had made an arancino weighing 37,2 kg.
The officialization of record will happen soon.
A great satisfaction for the Sicilian city which also boasts a solid gastronomic tradition which it aims to make known throughout the world.
Congratulations for this delicious new record!
