The Conte government allocates 4,3 billion for the Italian municipalities. These are resources that local municipalities will have to distribute to families and people who are unable to shop. The allocation of funds is contemplated in the new government decree signed by the President of the Council of Ministers.
To the 4,3 billion there are also 400 million euros, allocated by order of the Civil Protection. These new economic measures have been studied ad hoc to give concrete help to those who are suffering the heavy consequences of the economic crisis, caused by the Coronavirus.
Money to municipalities for families in crisis due to the pandemic
“We will discuss with the experts earlier this week and we are confident that they will bring us excellent news. We always remain vigilant to adjust our assessments based on their recommendations ”. These are the declarations of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte who tonight held yet another press conference at Palazzo Chigi.
To journalists connected via the web, the head of the national executive illustrated the new measures to stem the economic crisis generated by the pandemic. With the resources allocated by the government, the municipalities will have greater availability to help all those people who can no longer buy even the basic necessities.
Resources for local authorities and benefits for workers
"Minister Catalfo and INPS are working tirelessly - commented Conte - We want all the beneficiaries of the redundancy fund to be able to access it immediately, by April 15 and if possible even earlier". “We didn't make a proposal to the European Commission, but to the Eurogroup. There is an ongoing debate in this regard.
But - continued Conte - here there is an appointment with history and everyone must be up to it ”. With these words Conte commented on the European Commission's 'no' to the Coronabonds. "I will not go down in history for those who have not fought - asserted the premier - I will fight to the end for a European solutionto ".
The Italian government and the 'wall' of the European Commission
"The words of Von Der Leyen on the Coronabonds are wrong - said the Minister of Economy Roberto Gualtieri - The one indicated in the letter of the nine European heads of state is the most appropriate answer for a symmetrical shock on the economy and everyone must rise to the challenge, including the president of the European Commission ”.
For her part, Ursula von der Leyen, president of the EU Commission ruled: "In the Coronavirus crisis, the European Commission does not plan to issue its own bonds on debts. On this there are clear legal boundaries and there is no plan. We don't work on this ". Ursula von der Leyen also underlined that "the word Coronabond is just a kind of slogan. Behind there is the big question of guarantees. And on this the reservations of Germany as of other countries are justified ”.
