We can now speak of revolution. Valerio Lundini is the one who took Italian comedy to another stage, earning a considerable esteem from many people, especially young people. But who is Valerio Lundini?
The beginnings of Valerio Lundini
Do you study literature at the University of Roma Tre and start collaborating with Rai as an author and participate in the comic program Battute in 2019? In 2020 he becomes co-host of the L'Altro Festival program. In the same year he became the creator and main conductor of the program which exposed it to the attention of all of Italy: Una pezza di Lundini. In collaboration with Giovanni Benincasa they create a television program produced by Stand by Me and broadcast in the late evening on Rai 2. The first edition was broadcast on 7 September 2020 while the last on 30 March 2022 but all episodes are possible find recorded on RaiPlay.
But what is the peculiarity that has made millions of viewers fall in love?
If by chance we changed the channel and found ourselves on Una pezza di Lundini we would not find anything strange. There is Valerio who interviews many Italian show people accompanied by the presence of Emanuela Fanelli who plays the role of Miss good evening, usually at the opening of the program. After a while, however, we would have realized that something is wrong and that there is something out of place in the dialogue. The interviews are starting to take a turn that we would not have expected. The conductor is embarrassed and always seems to be a substitute for an imaginary production that has been skipped due to technical problems, putting a patch on the television broadcast, and hence the title of the program.
The interviews are surreal and are continually interrupted by gags, voiceovers, from the band I VazzaNikki or other people from the audience such as Alessandro Gori, Stefano Rapone, Mr. Roberto Torpedine, Lieutenant Carlo Silvestri and many others. The dialogues with the guests always take a nonsense style that leads Lundini's irony to build a new comedy that goes beyond the insane, I would say the genius. Plus, for die-hard fans, there's the book titled It was better the book where he brings back his subtle, biting comedy made of turns of words and inadequacy in a collection of short stories. In short, for those who do not know him yet, you have the opportunity to broaden your Italian comic vision and above all to be able to say that we have risen again with style and sympathy.
