The facade of the Milan Gallery was defaced

In the night between Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 August a serious act of vandalism carried out by unknown persons against one of the symbolic monuments of the city, namely the facade of the Galleria di Milano. According to the reconstruction of the facts, three young men dressed in black climbed the entrance arch of the Gallery by accessing from a service stairway and began to smear the facade pediment, above the dedication “To Victor Emmanuel II. The Milanese“, with colored spray paint cans bearing their signatures and other tags, as the scribbles in the slug of the street graffiti. No political or ideological matrix can be traced back to the gesture but a clear sign of one crew who wanted to get attention.

The group of writers is in fact signed "1e4a7". The many videos that have immortalized the three are being examined by the police who have launched an investigation.

An act to be punished

The gesture, under the eyes of all, was immediately seen and reported to the authorities. The three managed to get away with it by running away and remaining stunned by the lack of a series of laws that sanction those who destroy the city's heritage.

On March 9, environmental activists from i last generation, they had smeared the Victor Emmanuel statue camping in square.

Such actions cannot and must not go unpunished. The Minister of Culture will present an ad hoc speech.

The cleaning works of the Milan Gallery

The pediment of the Galleria facade was promptly cleaned by the workers to be returned to the city and to the tourists who flock to the square. The work was carried out using a ladder truck which allowed the public works operators of the Municipality to cover the damage done by the vandals. The monitoring of the façade will then continue to avoid further damage and discolouration.
