"La Dolce Vita X Way of Life“: This is the theme, Fellini's, that Suzuki proposed to twenty-four students del Master in Transportation Design from the IED of Turin. The result? The Suzuki Misano auto-motorcycle, which reinterprets the classic Barchetta and leads straight into the future.
How the Suzuki Misano auto-motorcycle was born
Suzuki Misano: this is the name given to the car-motorcycle designed by the IED students. A prototype that combines the world of two wheels with that of four wheels, the design of the Japanese house with the Italian style, the safety of a car with the fun of a motorcycle. This work began last autumn. It culminated in an innovative, perfect concept fusion of tradition, emotion and technology. The starting point was, precisely, Suzuki's claim: "La Dolce Vita X Way of Life". From here the students started, from the convertibles that - in the “La dolce vita” of Federico Fellini - they whiz past sinuously. The name, “Misano”, is instead a tribute to the victories that Suzuki with his motorcycles has collected on the famous Italian circuit.
power and decidedly sporty, the Suzuki Misano the Barchetta resumes in the lines. It has two seats, like a motorcycle. And it doesn't have a canopy. It is 4 meters long, 17.5 meters wide and one meter high. The positions are decentralized, and the right side of the passenger compartment gives way to the batteries and the trunk. The front and the lights have a gritty design, the rear is aerodynamic and conveys the air flows through two trapezoidal meshes. The small windshield is reminiscent of the motorcycle fairing and, instead of the steering wheel, there is a motorcycle-inspired cloche. "On the one hand, the four wheels, the functionality, the efficiency, the practicality of compact dimensions; on the other, two wheels, synonymous with sporting spirit, high performance and emotions. For over a century, Suzuki has embodied these two opposing souls with the production of cars and motorcycles, but is it possible to combine these two worlds in one vehicle?”Reads the institute's Facebook profile.
Suzuki's statements
"Thanks to the collaboration between IED and the Suzuki brand, a concept vehicle has been created that looks at the two souls of Suzuki production, compact car and motorcycle”Commented Kimihiko Nakada, director of the Suzuki Design Center. To then tell how the Suzuki Milano was created for a thesis, and fully expresses the passion of the students. Their idea? Opening a window on the mobility of the future. And tell how young people will lead in the coming years.
Suzuki Misano will be exported to the MAUTO - National Automobile Museum of Turin, from Saturday 15 May to Sunday 6 June 2021. The right opportunity to discover the ideas of young students, what they imagine for their (and for our) future. Because mobility has taken a very specific direction: environmental sustainability. And it is the boys who know it.
Wow, what a car!
An ensuing vehicle… 😍👍
