A T-shirt, a dress or a coat made with freshly squeezed citrus scraps seems incredible, yet two young entrepreneurs from Catania, Adriana Santanocito and Enrica Arena, did it.

Adriana Santanocito and Enrica Arena have given life to a fabric that allows you to reuse, in an innovative way, just the citrus waste to give life to eco-sustainable garments.

The project consists in extracting cellulose from citrus waste to produce a textile fiber alternative to oil. The waste from oranges, they lend themselves to the creation of this type of fibers and release the vitamins C, A and E on the skin.  

The idea of ​​the Santocito and the Arena has collected numerous awards: the first prize of the jury and the public of theIdeas 4 Change Award UNECE - United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the first start-up competition organized byUnited Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

Il award 'Il Talento delle Ideè within the Gaetano Marzotto award, Special Mention Working Capital-Telecom Italia in the Catania accelerator,Power2Talent for Parco Tecnologico Padano, among the ten of Changemakers for Expo 2015; the Biotechnology Award of the Padano Technological Park.
