Thousands have been complaining about how bad they are for more than a year long times to obtain a passport in Italy.
Many are already thinking about organizing the holidays abroad for next summer, for this reason they move well in advance to prepare the necessary documentation, first of all the passport.
The associations turn to tourism
A few days ago the associations dealing with tourism turned to the minister Matteo Piantedosi requesting intervention to limit the damage and try to resolve the solution. Tour operators and travel agencies have lost 300 million in revenue in the last two years, i.e. 167 thousand fewer trips, precisely because of these delays which forced some customers to give up their planned trip.
The bodies that deal with passport issuance they justify themselves by claiming that they are unable to keep up with the excessive demand. Waiting times are only slightly shorter if you already have a paid plane ticket or if the planned trip is motivated by study, health or work needs.
Even though Minister Piantedosi had promised to increase staff at the counters the situation has not yet been resolved and the delays and controversies continue.
