With My Cooking Box everyone can become a great chef
It's easy to say Italian food. Not everyone was born with the attitude of the chef. In fact, sometimes it takes very little to get a recipe wrong. Not to mention the search for quality products at the right price. Wouldn't it be nice to have a chef at home who prepares a different typical recipe for us every day? Perhaps it is also thinking about this that Chiara Rota decided to found the start up My Cooking Box. The idea is brilliant. You choose one of the many recipes available, buy the box with all the ingredients and follow the instructions for preparation step-by-step. Your idea is truly original. You have managed to combine the tradition of taste with ecological attention that avoids waste. How was My Cooking Box born?
The idea was born in 2015. In full climate Expo is presented at a thematic table for future female entrepreneurs. An idea that was immediately successful. In fact, it was welcomed, in February 2015, by the business accelerator SpeedMiUp of the Bocconi University and the Milan Chamber of Commerce. A month later, the My Cooking Box trademark was deposited and Ricetta Italiana Srl was established, with the participation of three partners.
My Cooking Box was born from a simple as well as intuitive idea, which starts from a consideration of the purchase process. The consumer has the habit of buying by product. So often and willingly, he finds himself with the pantry full but without that last ingredient necessary to make the favorite dish. So why not change this process and induce the consumer to buy by prescription? The reduction of time and waste is guaranteed and My Cooking Box fulfills this need.
How do you select the products to use in your recipes?
We go in search of artisanal manufacturers, where the great skill of knowing how to hand down and do is the quality and guarantee factor of the product. We therefore select small companies, which work the excellence of their territory, precisely to create boxes, our My Cooking Box, which contain a regional specialty. In the selection of ingredients and in the creation of the recipe we involve the Accademia del Gusto, a training center of excellence in the food and wine sector, in the Lombard panorama and established catering professionals, each of whom signs the recipe of his territory of origin.
From the attention you pay to quality I imagine you will be very successful in Italy.
But the first thing that comes to mind when reading your words is that My Cooking Box could be a great flag abroad. In fact, the whole world loves our cuisine, but few are able to prepare our dishes. Could you be a taste ambassador in a way?
Sure, we'd love to be! In fact, one of our primary targets is precisely the foreign tourist who, returning home, brings with him that part of Italianness that makes us appreciate so much abroad: food. In fact, My Cooking Box becomes a modern souvenir capable of transmitting the great quality of our ingredients and the love for culinary traditions.
In addition, it allows those who are not very familiar with the kitchen to prepare a recipe in a workmanlike manner thanks to all the ingredients contained, condiments included, already provided in the right doses. In this way, the margin of error, to make the desired pot, is reduced (almost!) To zero. Of course, we are very keen to sell abroad, in fact we are taking our first steps in Germany, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
What are your plans for the future? Can we have some anticipation?
Very soon, we will activate our e-commerce platform which will give the opportunity to increase sales on the entire European market. Furthermore, we are working on new concepts of My Cooking Box, one dedicated to children, the other designed for those suffering from food intolerances.
