Mo'delaine is the wool festival that has been taking place in for five years valgrisenchein Valle d'Aosta. The 2023 edition is scheduled for the next 2 and 3 September. This year's theme is as timely as ever: “From animal welfare to conscious consumption”. Conceived and organized by the cooperative Les Tisserands, with the contribution and collaboration of the Municipality of Valgrisenche and the Pro loco, Mo'delaine will host meetings, screenings, workshops, demonstrations and guided tours.

Bringing the public closer to the raw material

Mo'delaine was born from the desire of the creators to bring the public closer to the raw material "wool" and to make it known about its transformation. With wool, in fact, different products can be made for multiple uses. Experts and enthusiasts of the sector will be present at the festival. Therefore, not only weavers, felt makers, spinners, dyers, designers, but also journalists, students and the curious who will be able to closely observe the entire process that leads to the finished product. Among the numerous initiatives scheduled, it will be possible to attend conferences; participate in the tour of Valgrisenche, during which the secrets of the village will be narrated; admire the stands of the wool artisans with demonstrations of the workings; have fun with animations think for the whole family; give vent to one's imagination through the creative workshops.

A conference on the environment and animal welfare

It begins on Saturday 2 September, when Mo'delaine will kick off in the multipurpose hall of the Vieux Quartier, in the locality of Capoluogo, with a conference in which various experts will participate, in which issues such as sustainability and environmental balance, the well-being of animals and responsible consumption, innovation and development processes linked to the clothing chain. Among the guests, there will be: Silvana Mattiello, associate professor of special animal husbandry at the University of Milan; Luca Battaglini, president of SoZooAlp and professor at the University of Turin; Frances Conchieri e Mauro Cossu of the Post-Industrial Rural Association of Sellero; Antonio Jesus Castillo Urquízar, knitting designer and creator of Beagle Knits; Roger Giavini, co-founder of Vesti la Natura. At 20.30 the documentary "Intrecci Etici" will be screened Lucia Mauri and Lorenzo Malavolta.

On Sunday 3 September, starting at 10, however, the square of the capital will host the stands of handicraft and gastronomic products of the "Sul filo di lana" fair. There are also workshops for adults (natural dyeing, creative sewing, knitting and needle felting) conducted by professionals in the sector, including the well-known Antonio Jesus Castillo Urquízar, aka Beagle Knits, and demonstrations of craftsmanship. Moreover, during the entire festival there will be demonstrations of craftsmanship, such as sheep shearing, weaving, spinning, natural dyeing and knitwear, with industry experts available to share their secrets and answer all your questions. questions about the wool supply chain. The event will close at 17.30 pm with the theatrical poetic show “Remember…Remember”, curated by Elisa Branzanti.
