It is not the first time that the Strega Award is awarded posthumously: it had happened with the passage in the shadow of Mariateresa Di Leaves in 1995, with the The Leopard by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa in 1959 and with Private Renaissance di Maria Bellonci in 1986. The writer dedicates the book to Daria, her disabled daughter. A little girl whose fate has been marked since birth by a lack of diagnosis. Ada is her mother, who on the threshold of fifty years of age discovers she is seriously ill with cancer. Illness becomes an opportunity for the mother to tell her daughter about her in a work that becomes a testament, an eternal declaration of love towards a daughter destined to lose her mother precisely because of her illness.
