The history of Nutella
The ancestor of Nutella was born after World War II, when cocoa was difficult to find and Ferrero - from his small Piedmontese village - managed to create a sweet pastry based on hazelnuts, sugar and a pinch of cocoa. It was the giandujot, and it was shaped like a loaf. In 1951 the jar was introduced and the cream, now easier to spread, took the name of Super Cream. However, we will have to wait until 1964 for the actual Nutella, and 1965 for the creation of the iconic jar. From Italy, that extraordinary sweet cream reached Europe and then the rest of the world, conquering adults and children alike. In the following years it was a crescendo of successes, until the establishment of the first on February 5, 2007 World Nutella Day and the opening - in 2017 - of the first Nutella restaurant in Chicago.
