It ends tomorrow, August 6, 2023, the 7th edition of the Borgo Universo Festival in Aielland (L'Aquila), which began yesterday, Friday 4 August. The event, which every summer brings together world-famous artists, musicians and astronomy experts, is once again attracting a large number of visitors in this edition, confirming itself as an extraordinary engine for urban development. In fact, the importance of the festival continues to bring the small village of medieval origin, located in the heart of Marsica and the Velino-Sirente Natural Park, to the attention of the media and tourists.
Aielli tells its story through art and astronomy
The first edition of Borgo Universo dates back to 2017. Since, Aielli tells his story and his unique contact with the cosmos through street art and astronomy. Every year the town hosts internationally renowned artists to paint new stories and visions on the walls of the village streets. In seven years, the artists who arrived in the Abruzzo municipality created an open-air museum which today has 40 murals, sculptures and installations. Also this year, the festival is enriched by protagonists of urban art, music and science.
There are also various events, experiences and opportunities to take part in the game and be the first actors of Borgo Universo: thematic walks among the murals of Aielli, excursions, cultural events, outdoor activities for adults and children, art and physics in the cellars and on the streets of the town.
The great protagonists of this edition of Borgo Universo
Borgo Universo welcomes in these three days Vhils, Portuguese artist who furrows and digs the wall drawing by subtraction; Time, Roman masked stick; Andriy Palval, a Ukrainian artist who will conclude a journey through Waterford and Belfast in the country, which unites three European festivals through art with a common project (and the scent of new visions).
The protagonist of this edition is the Aiellese astronomer Philip Angelitti creator of Borgo Universo and today the key to the link between Aielli and the Divine Comedy. There are also various musical moments, starting with a review of the most energetic and promising young Marsican artists, from the notes of Reuben Coco to the narrow and pungent verses of the young trappers. Tonight the appointment is with the electro-swing atmospheres of the French artist ProleteR and the ironic and romantic voice of Legno. Sunday evening will close the festival with the warm, enveloping and crackling rhythm of Tullio De Piscopo.
