The price increases of summer 2023

Going on vacation will cost the Italians a good amount of money, in fact many are the price increases applied to numerous goods and services. The increases were noted everywhere: flights, motorway tolls, transport, hotels, beaches, holiday villages, campsites, restaurants, but also ice cream, aperitifs, drinks including food.

Demoscope calculated that for thesummer 2023 the holidays will cost in everything 3,9 billion euros more. For some, this is due to the spread of inflation and the increase in energy that has also affected us in recent months.

The increases

According to what he reports Codacons, many bathing establishments have added changes to their price lists by applying increases in the most famous beaches in Italy. We start with the daily rates for umbrellas, sunbeds and deckchairs, which record average increases of +10%/+15% throughout the country and with peaks of +25% compared to last year. To rent an umbrella and two sunbeds at the weekend in an average establishment, this year costs between 30 and 35 euros per day.

Also very high are the prices of hotels, B&Bs, rentals and above all flights and fuel prices, which are increasingly skyrocketing.

The most expensive cities

The regions with the highest price increases are: Lazio (+9,5%), Lombardy (9,2%), Tuscany (9,1%), Molise (9,1%) and Campania (9%) and Puglia ( 9%). Faced with these data, it is not clear why Puglia has been attacked by the media in the last period given that it is the region that has recorded the least increases.

The most expensive cities are: Venice, Milan, Florence, the cities of the Amalfi coast, Genoa, Rome, Arezzo, Bologna.

These price increases have led many Italians to choose abroad for their holidays. Among the most popular and cheapest destinations are: Albania e Croatia. While foreigners focus on Italy.
