Giada, Marettimo's only student, lives in a very particular situation. The girl, in fact, is the only middle school student on the island. Currently, teachers Giuliana Clemente and Alessandro Amato are solely responsible for Giada's education.

The peculiarity of this situation emerges by virtue of the adverse weather conditions which hinder the boat transfer from Marettimo to Favignana, precluding Giada from the possibility of attending the main school. The teacher Giuliana Clemente, despite already being assigned to a position on a larger and more easily accessible island, voluntarily took on the substitute role in Marettimo to guarantee Giada access to education.

The teacher's week begins on Sunday afternoon, when she takes the hydrofoil to Marettimo, and ends on Friday, when she returns to Palermo, his city. While Giuliana teaches literature and her colleague Alessandro deals with mathematics, they both carry out activities tutoring with Giada, following and assisting her in the online lessons held in the main office of Favignana.

A unique and special relationship

The relationship between the teachers and Giada is unique and special, aimed at preventing the young student from feeling isolated. Not only the little one received letters of encouragement from students of a school in Agrigento, but is developing an epistolary friendship with them. The community is also preparing a band with the writing "Ambassador of Marettimo" for Giada.
