Giada, Marettimo's only student, lives in a very particular situation. The girl, in fact, is the only middle school student on the island. Currently, teachers Giuliana Clemente and Alessandro Amato are solely responsible for Giada's education.

The peculiarity of this situation emerges by virtue of the adverse weather conditions which hinder the boat transfer from Marettimo to Favignana, precluding Giada from the possibility of attending the main school. The teacher Giuliana Clemente, despite already being assigned to a position on a larger and more easily accessible island, voluntarily took on the substitute role in Marettimo to guarantee Giada access to education.

The teacher's week begins on Sunday afternoon, when she takes the hydrofoil to Marettimo, and ends on Friday, when she returns to Palermo, his city. A unique and special relationship
