The month of October, which has just begun, continues to give us temperatures above the average for the period, just as September did. The anomalous heat of these days is allowing last minute holidaymakers to still enjoy the beautiful days and even sunbathe on our beaches, which have never been so crowded in October. This favorable situation is determined by the African anticyclone that still affects our country. The same situation is also occurring in the Iberian Peninsula, in France and in central Europe, including Germany. However, meteorologists warn that sudden changes could occur during the month climate, such as to bring about a radical change. What should we expect, then?
Climate change underway
The high temperatures that are also being recorded in this month of October demonstrate that a worrying climate change is underway with unpredictable consequences and incalculable damage to the environment and humans. One of the sectors most affected by climate change is the agricultural sector, which is suffering significant damage everywhere.
The sudden transition from heat to cold, in these conditions, could in fact lead to sudden and persistent cold waves, especially after the middle of the month. We just need to take a step back in time to see that cold waves have hit our country especially after the 20th of the month.
Beware of incursions of polar air masses
At the moment, in Italy, there are no reliable forecasts that indicate an imminent reversal from hot to cold. However - and this is not a minor detail - meteorologists are noticing sudden incursions of polar air masses.
For this reason, we could see a sudden change in weather, from anomalously warm to anticipated cold, even if it is not currently predicted by mathematical models. In any case, for now, all we can do is enjoy the sun which will accompany our days for the next few days. In the meantime, however, let's not forget to start making the change of season so as not to find ourselves unprepared for a sudden and drastic drop in temperatures. Let's not forget that we are still in autumn!
