The prestigious Angelo Betti Award named after the founder of Vinitaly of Verona. The prestigious award has been withdrawn by Paul Hippolytus, Vice President of the well-known winery. Already 33 years ago, his father Salvatore had won the same prize, awarded every year to the best wine entrepreneurs of the Italian regions. Over time, several members of the whole family have taken care of the company, 100 hectares in the Cirotan countryside overlooking the Ionian Sea. Since 2019 Ippolito is also one of the youngest "Ambassadors of wine" nominated by "Città del vino", which brings together all the Municipalities producing the best Italian wines

"For this edition of the Betti Prize we have chosen Paolo because we wanted to give recognition to the area of Ciro and to a young entrepreneur who, after having been out of Calabria for so many years, has decided to return. He is not only managing the generational passage of his historic cellar with intelligence and creativity, giving prestige to all Calabrians, but also working excellently to promote the area to which he belongs with the protection consortium».
Thus the Councilor for Agriculture of Calabria Gianluca Gallo who added: “All together we have achieved an important result: showing the authentic face of Calabria to the world and demonstrating that another narrative is possible, enhancing the human and natural excellence of our land. And by combining agro-food resources with those of the territory, in a combination that can guarantee important results in terms of growth and development".
Calabria will also participate in Vinitaly in the next three years. Furthermore, the agreements with the'Ice (Foreign Trade Institute) to give Calabrian wines, and more generally to the entire agri-food sector, prospects for growth on new markets, starting with the North American one. Gallo reiterated: “There is a lot of attention for Calabrian agri-food. Now we have to work hard to take advantage of the good winds and capitalize on opportunities that can be worth the relaunch of our land: a demanding challenge, but certainly one that cannot be renounced".
