The new was presented beer T21, the first produced by eleven boys with Down syndrome in Palermo, belonging to the voluntary sports association SporT21 Sicilia and the AIPD of Termini Imerese at theBruno Ribaldi company with the aim of concretely promoting theinclusion.
T21 beer
T21 is the name of the craft beer which is linked to the syndrome linked to the genetic trisomy of chromosome 21, known as Down syndrome, born from the collaboration between the Bruno Ribaldi company and the boys chosen by the Volunteer Sports Association SporT21 Sicily and the AIPD of Termini Imerese.
Entrepreneurs Giuseppe Biundo and Vito Biundo who believed in the potential of young people by giving them the opportunity to learn this ancient trade and put their teachings to good use by creating a concrete project of integration and inclusion at work.
Together they created, after a theoretical and practical training course in 2022, their "first" beer proposed in two types marketed through the channels of the Bruno Ribadi Brewery: one white, one amber-red, all gluten free. They are already available throughout Italy. The boys also created the graphics for the labels.
How the project was born
In 2020, the Sport 21 Sicilia Association and the Italian Down People Association with the project “Let's support each other”: they had an important funding that led to the active participation and job placement of individuals with Down syndrome. The chosen students have followed a training course on the cultivation, processing and production of products. Among them, it was decided to focus on beer
A beer for inclusion
The experience has enriched both the kids with Down syndrome who have learned to be master brewers and the professionals of the sector who have adapted to the rhythms and have understood the difficulties but also the great creative potential of the subjects involved. The project is funded byregional family department.
The production of beer is one of the steps of a larger and more articulated social inclusion project which also sees the creation of a supportive pub in the wake of the great success reported by PizzaAut, to be built with the proceeds from the sale.
The intention is to involve other children affected by the syndrome to promote skills and continue the project, involving other pizzerias and clubs and other associations.
