The final event of Procida capital of culture 15 is scheduled for Sunday 17 January, starting at 2022 pm. It will be an open air event accessible to all, broadcast in live streaming on the digital ecosystem for culture of the Campania Region (cultura.regione.campania.it) and on the official profiles of Procida 2022. For theisola bell concludes a year of great numbers, with 44 cultural projects of which 34 original, spread over 300 days of programming. Initiatives declined in workshops open to the public, final restitution appointments, concerts, happenings, exhibition openings. Overall 150 events with the participation of over 350 artists from 45 different countries of the world.
Procida capital of culture 2022
The closing of this incredible year was sealed by a contemporary version of Rodin's “Thinker”, a gigantic luminous figure 12 meters high and placed in the public space in search of answers on the actions of modern man in relation to the natural world. And, again, an extraordinary "eco-show" that will take shape on a stage powered directly by the public, on bicycles. One way to summarize the active role that 2000 citizens and 500 volunteers played during the year as the Italian capital of culture. The installation that will dominate Marina Grande square is a work by the Australian artist Amanda Parer, who with his Parer Studio has so far exhibited in nearly 300 cities around the world.
Together with "Man", Procida will also show "Fantastic Planet (Over)", a luminous work inspired by the homonymous Czech-French science fiction film, with gigantic humanoids landed from afar and in silent and gentle exploration of our planet. With the two installations, the entire perimeter of the Marina will be tinged with pink, the color that has crossed the year of Procida. Thanks to an intervention by Campania Foundation of the Festivals, the public will enjoy a very special atmosphere.
The witness passes to Bergamo and Brescia
The electricity that lights up the stage will be generated by over 100 volunteers identified through a call to action among passionate cyclists from all over Italy. With their bicycles hooked up to a special stand connected to a dynamo, they will pedal for the duration of the show. Wednesday 18 January is scheduled, at the Royal Palace of Naples, the passage of the witness from Procida to Bergamo and Brescia, Italian capitals of culture in 2023. The ceremony will take place at the end of a talk which will summarize the events and numbers generated by Procida in 2022 as the capital of culture.
