There is a column on Italians.it particularly dear to all gourmands: Dolce vita. A space where the best recipes, often reworked, of cakes, pies, parfaits and more are collected. In short, a paradise for gluttonous sinners. The column is created with the partnership of a portal that has now become a reference point for cooking lovers: Those that ... not just sweets. And given the great success of the project, the authors decided to write two books, donating the entire proceeds to charity.

A book to do good

Behind “Those who… not just sweets” there are Maria Antonella Calopreste and Marco Spetti. Their blogs for years are among the most clicked by all cooking enthusiasts, and the Facebook group has over 25 subscribers. Here, passion for cooking is mixed with values such as friendship and solidarity. A community where every single member can share their own recipes or learn new ones, far from the culinary fanaticisms that often characterize this sector.
Maria Antonella and Marco, who have always been involved in the social sector, given the large number of recipes in the group, decided to collect them, make a book and donate it to charity. Project made possible through the cultural association and publishing house TracesPerLaMeta, of which Maria Antonella herself is a part.

“Those who… Not just sweets” Volume 1

Published in February 2015, the book was a great success. A collection of all the best recipes shared on the group by the many users who are part of it. It could have been an excellent earning opportunity, also justified by the hard work of writing and layout, but Maria Antonella herself decided to donate the entire proceeds to the Macibombo ONLUS, humanitarian association operating in Mozambique and in Italy. A wonderful way of doing charity all together as a big family.

“Those who… Not just sweets” Volume 2

Given the success of the first book, Maria Antonella decided to make a second one. The formula is always the same: the best recipes shared on the group collected in a paper volume. And even in this case the proceeds go to charity. To be precise, to the association "Those who ... with Luca". It is an ONLUS born by the will of Andrea Ciccioni in 2011, eager to support research against the myeloid leukemia, after the loss of his son Luca caused by this very disease.

Why the choice to devolve to the ass. Those who… With luca

Maria Antonella was looking for who to donate the proceeds of the book to, but she couldn't decide. She was certain of only one thing: it had to be something that concerned children with cancer. One evening, by chance, she came across a banner bearing the name of an association that was similar to the name of her group, so she got in touch by phone with Andrea, Luca's father, to get info and to know what took care. He was amazed when he discovered that it was an association created to help children with myeloid leukemia. When Andrea learned that Maria Antonella had a cooking group, he invited her to join him to tell her something special.
It was really a special and exciting thing: Luca loved making sweets! The cartoons were accompanied by the test of the cook and never missed an opportunity to prepare his favorite sweets even in the hospital. And as if the emotions weren't enough, when it was time to say goodbye, Andrea asked Antonella what her favorite dessert was and she replied that she liked simple desserts like plumcake and donut. Silence reigned for a moment, then interrupted by Andrea's phrase “also for Luca the favorite was the plumcake". Everything was clear at that point: it was not Maria Antonella who chose Luca, but Luca who chose her.

Coincidence? Perhaps, but so many accidents give rise to a certainty. The names of the two similar groups, Luca's passions: everything was perfectly linked. Those who… Not just sweets & Those who… with luca.

Hence the decision to allocate the proceeds of the new book to support this noble cause. A choice dictated by a series of randomness and discoveries, which pushed Antonella and Marco together with the whole group of Quelli che ... Not only sweets a support Andrea's project. All that remains is to buy this book, just out, able to enrich not only our culinary knowledge, but also and above all to support important battles.
