Netflix increases, but also Disney+ and Spotify. Competition within streaming platforms is constantly evolving with Netflix leading the way in news. Recently the US company has made some significant changes to its pricing plans, going from four to three options, but other platforms are also following suit with price increases.

Netflix increases: Basic Plan eliminated

One of the main innovations is theelimination of the “Basic Plan” of Netflix in Italy. This plan, which allowed the use of only one device at a time but guaranteed unlimited access to all content in HD quality, was an affordable option with a monthly fee of 7,99 euros. This was the only plan that had not experienced price increases over time. However, Netflix has decided to eliminate this plan for i new subscribers and for anyone who reactivates their subscription. Fortunately, those who currently have this plan will be able to continue using it until they decide to switch to another plan or cancel their account.

New options:

With the elimination of the Basic Plan, the available options for Netflix subscribers in Italy they are now reduced to three:

  1. The “Standard Plan with advertising” at 5,49 euros per month, which introduces advertising breaks during viewing.
  2. The “Standard Plan” at 12,99 euros per month.
  3. The “Premium Plan” at 17,99 euros per month.

Additionally, both the Standard Plan and the Premium Plan offer the option to add “extra user slots” to the additional cost of 4,99 euros per month. This option was introduced after the elimination of account sharing, meaning that anyone who is not part of your household must pay an additional fee to use the subscription.

The last price increase dates back to 2021, when the Standard and Premium plans increased by one and two euros respectively.

Not just Netflix: changes also for Disney+ and Spotify

Disney+ also announced price increases and a ban on password sharing. From November 1st, Disney + will introduce a new subscription plan with several options, including ad-supported and ad-free plans, with various monthly rates. These plans offer different combinations of contemporary screens, video quality, and features like downloading.

Also Spotify, the service of music streaming most popular, has recently increased the prices of its subscriptions. The individual Premium subscription is now 10,99 euros per month, while the Premium Duo for two people costs 14,99 euros per month. The Premium Family, which allows six people to use the services, has increased to 17,99 euros per month, and the Student subscription has also increased to 5,99 euros per month.
