The unpublished narrative is entrusted to the words of the trusted manager Umberto Righi (known as Tobia) and his childhood friend Stefano Bonaga. "For Lucio”He drew from many public and private, historical and amateur repertoires with archival materials from Istituto Luce Cinecittà, Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, Home Movies - National Archive of Family Film, Audiovisual Archive of the labor and democratic movement and CSC Foundation - National Enterprise Cinema Archive (Ivrea). Pietro Marcello retraces the story of the artist and his many lives. From the debut to the consecration passing through the first successes and collaborations that have marked his career. In the background, an Italy that passes from the economic boom to the tragic events of the 70s.

Obviously there is no shortage of songs that have made the history of music in Italy. Among those present in the film there are many great hits such as "How deep is the sea", "Balla Balla Dancer" and "Futura". But also "Monday Film", "The river and the city", "Ithaca", "It is there", "The Song of Orlando", "The worker Gerolamo". “Per Lucio” is also a journey into the world imagined and sung by Lucio Dalla, from the squares to the bars of his beloved Bologna to the various stories told by the singer-songwriter.
