On Wednesday 25 March, Rai broadcast a replica of the program Wonders - A night in Venice with Alberto Angela. The popular popularizer appeared at the opening of the episode with a message of love to our country and its people in full Covid-19 emergency.
The values that unite our past with the present
Our Alberto Angela knows about wonders and did not miss the opportunity to remind us all the greatness and poetry of our nation. Mentioning the beauty of our past, however, is not an end in itself. In fact, as the popularizer points out: "Our heritage is the result of some values of past generations such as genius, creativity, professionalism and also the love for life that serve our country". Therefore beauty and values that have allowed us to become a point of reference for the West in the fight against Covid-19. Just us, a very small country on the map.
Angela continues in this regard: "I would never have thought one day of seeing a new face of our country take shape before my eyes. It is not a monument but a collective action, the action of Italy, everything happens thanks to you". The past which becomes present and which is called culture.
The exhortation for the post-Covid-19
"We still have to grit our teeth, a little more, then this will all be over". A thought to the after Coronavirus it is a duty and also in this regard Angela wants to leave us an important message: that of reward our country and our fellow citizens. This translates into two ways. The first: not forgetting who is currently fighting on the front line. The disseminator makes a very long list of them among health personnel, administrations, volunteers, transport and distribution operators.
The second one: "When you leave for travel, reward Italy: help those who live off tourism, such as cooperatives, guides, hotels, restaurants who are suffering a lot. In this way you will also reward our heritage and all past generations who are ideally fighting together with us". True, the world is full of beauties and mysteries yet to be discovered. However we cannot ignore the wonders we have at hand only because in a globalized world we almost feel obliged to stamp a passport.
Due to Covid-19 the message comes from quarantine
With an important personal message on 25 March Alberto Angela appeared on the television screens of 3.193.000 Italian citizens: 12,3% share. The background of the frame portrays a corner of the Angela house, where we imagine the popular popularizer is confined, like all Italians. Sitting on a white armchair, he has behind him a bookcase of the same color where numerous volumes are lined up, as we can expect from someone like Alberto Angela. An extraordinarily ordinary setting for a man who appears on TV on the backgrounds of the most wonderful places in our country and beyond. Before delving into the mysteries of Venice, the spectators were thus able to experience a profound feeling of commonality and closeness to Angela. Who rightly remembers: "You who stay at home also save lives, because you prevent the virus from spreading".
