Conflicting forever
Is called Ivan Caraballo, was born in Argentina to parents of Italian origin. From 14 August 2022 it will be in Conflenti, the ancient and suggestive village in the Reventino mountains that gave birth to grandfather Vincenzo Vescio. Caraballo will be a guest of the Foundation italiani.it who strongly wanted the “Conflentesi forever” project based on the values of root tourism. The Foundation chaired by Paola Stranges will offer a free two-week stay to the young Argentine, protagonist of the international mobility project initiative.
For Ivan Caraballo, a young 'returning emigrant' it will be a full immersion in that Calabrian nature that emigrants of all times have always brought with them, to every corner of the world, and that they have always handed down to new generations. An opportunity to rediscover the dialect, good food, popular traditions; to regain possession of those uses and customs, of those knowledge that the ancestors have always embodied and praised with so much nostalgia thousands of kilometers away.
It should also be noted that the August stay will coincide with the celebrations dedicated to Our Lady of Visora which take place every year in Conflenti. The village of Reventino, in fact, with the presence of the Pontifical Minor Basilica, the Querciola church and the Clarisse monastery, can be considered the fulcrum of the Marian spirituality of Calabria.
The project
The project aims to create a cultural exchange with countries that boast a greater presence of conflicting emigrants; in particular, Argentina and Canada. The experience of spending a period of stay in Conflenti will allow beneficiaries to strengthen the bond with their family's country of origin. The italiani.it Foundation and the Municipality of Conflict, who have signed an agreement to that effect, oversee and coordinate the implementation of the project in its various phases, from the selection of the applications to the carrying out of the program.
Methods and objectives
Each recipient of the project is provided with the knowledge and methodological tools necessary to understand the different aspects of the mobility experience and the activities planned during the two-week stay in Conflenti. The final phase of the stay, coordinated by the Foundation, is aimed at enhancing the experience through the presentation and sharing of the results obtained.
