The Italian boat Luna Rossa won the second regatta of the America's Cup final, held in Auckland Bay in New Zealand. Luna Rossa beat the 'defender' Team New Zealand who had won the first regatta instead. Equal situation, therefore, between the two teams competing for the America'Cup and which will have to compete in 11 other races. The coveted trophy will be awarded to those who, at the end of the competition, have won 7 races.
After the regatta held at 4.15 am this morning (Italian time) the two teams will rest tomorrow but, from Friday, it will be challenge again. In fact, from the day after tomorrow, two tests a day are scheduled until Wednesday 17 March. If by that date the two teams are tied then the last race will take place, the 13th, which will award the victory.
Luna Rossa wins the second regatta
In the race held this morning Luna Rossa has shown that she can keep up with the pace of the competition. The victory was a burst of pride, the right and brilliant reaction to the defeat of the first race. In fact, the America's Cup for the Italians got off to a bad start given the supremacy with which the New Zealand team won. In the final after a month of continuous challenges
Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli made it to the final after a whole month of racing. The Italian team has in fact faced the other two challengers: American Magic and Ineos Uk. The first phase of racing began in mid-January with round-robins. A fast pace for the semifinals, in which Luna Rossa won the final with four consecutive victories against the Americans.
