When we talk about Alassio we refer to one of the most important tourist centers of the Riviera di Ponente of the Liguria. Located about 49 km south of Savona, it is a paradise for sea lovers. To this is added, however, a significant historical, artistic and gastronomic interest.
What to see in Alassio
The streets of the historic center of Alassio are full of surprises. There are many churches present, such as the Collegiate Church of Sant'Ambrogio, which dates back to the XNUMXth century. Its Roman-Gothic bell tower is fascinating. Another complex to visit is the Oratory of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, built in the XNUMXth century. Inside there are wooden statues by the sculptor Anton Maria Maragliano.
Among the historic buildings of Alassio there is Ferrero de Gubernatis Palace Ventimiglia, built in the eighteenth century. Also worth visiting are Palazzo Brea and Palazzo Scofferi. In the village some towers were erected for the defense and sighting of pirate ships. The most important are Torrione Saraceno and Torre di Vegliasco. Among the curiosities there is the Wall of Alassio, which became famous for the beauty contest. It is decorated with colored tiles, engraved with the handwritten signatures of famous people.
