Sting, who has always been in love with Italy, has decided to spend his holidays crossing the peninsula and sailing the Mediterranean aboard his Shenandoah, facing the storm in the Strait of Messina. The English singer has already held three dates of his tour in our country and will return to sing in Milan at the Assago forum in December.

The singer wanted to stop in the Mediterranean, visit some of the Aeolian and at the end of August, aboard his Shenandoah, a fabulous boat dating back to the early 900s built in New York in the renowned shipyard Townsend & Downey. The imabrcation is 121 years old; it is a three-masted schooner with a steel hull; She boasts 888 square feet of sails and gusts of 35 miles per hour. Inside there is a crew of professionals who helped the singer and his wife to get out of the strait unscathed, in the past referred to as a monster because of its strong currents that swallowed the boats.

The tale of the stormy sea

The crossing of the Strait of Messina with rough seas on board the couple's boat it happened at the end of July. The producer wanted to share the story of the crossing only now. Here is what she wrote about IG:

"Aboard the Shenandoah – a three masted steel hulled schooner, built in New York in 1902. 888 square meters of sail and 35km/h gusts need a crew of heroes like this to handle! The roller coaster ride was exhilarating, followed by the calmer crossing across the Strait of Messina. The Shenandoah rocked us like babies in our cribs last night".
