World Food Day is celebrated around the world on October 16. This special day commemorates the anniversary of the founding date of'United Nations Organization for food and agriculture, commonly known as FAO. Events are organized around the world on the theme of equitable food security for all. The theme chosen for this year is: «Our actions are our future. A world of Zero Hunger by 2030 is possible ".

World Food Day: #ZeroHunger!

La World Food Day was established during the 20th General Conference of the Organization in November 1979. The Hungarian delegation, led by former Hungarian Minister of Agriculture and Food Pál Romány, played a major role in the conference. The former minister suggested the idea of celebrating World Food Day around the world to raise awareness of poverty, the thorny issue related to hunger and malnutrition around the world. The main objective, in addition to raising awareness, is to involve people, to inform them and to encourage them to take action against these problems. Since 1981, a different theme has been proposed every year. For 2018 was chosen: Zero Hunger.

The theme Fame Zero translates into collaboration. Collective participation so that everyone, in every corner of the world, can have access to quality, nutritious, healthy and safe food. A concrete, sustainable commitment that wants to involve everyone for a conscious nutrition. Unfortunately, world hunger is on the rise again. Over 280 million people suffer from malnutrition today. THE climate change, the economic crisis, wars and rising obesity levels are reversing the progress made so far. 70% of the poor population lives in rural areas.
Their survival is closely linked toagriculture, forestry and fishing.
World Food Day calls on governments to invest inprivate agriculture with ad hoc programs for the weakest. As for small farmers, the request is that of adopt new methods of sustainable agriculture. As can be read on the FAO official website: "Zero Hunger goes beyond conflict resolution and economic growth by taking the long-term approach to building peaceful and inclusive societies».

The site of the FAO has drawn up a series of tips for achieving the #ZeroHunger lifestyle. The first action to take is to not waste food, freeze leftovers or use the ingredients for another meal. The second is to produce more with less, specifically: finding new and more productive ways to grow and diversify crops. The third: healthy and sustainable diet; few ingredients, but healthy and nutritious. The fourth: supporting #ZeroHunger. Share knowledge, develop resources and strategies. Every single citizen can work and actively contribute to a world of zero hunger. THU all events organized for October 16, 2018.
