Italy Weather: the weather forecast for Italy indicates a clear change in atmospheric conditions, with the imminent arrival of winter characterized by an influx of cold northern air and the deepening of a significant disruption. According to the most reliable mathematical models, the Peninsula is already experiencing the first signs of winter, with the entry of colder air and the evolution of a disturbance that will cause rain, storms and intense winds across the entire territory, from 'Northern Italy to the South.
Italy weather: forecasts from 20 to 26 November
Tuesday marks the start of ameteorological instability with the arrival of bad weather, characterized by thunderstorms in the northern region. While today the climate remains largely dry, Tuesday inaugurates a new atmospheric phase with the disturbance responsible for a significant worsening of the weather conditions. The rains and thunderstorms will start in the north-west regions, such as Liguria, Emilia Romagna and Piedmont, and then extend towards the centre. They are expected particularly intense thunderstorms on Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, northern Lazio and the Abruzzo coasts.
Starting from Wednesday, the disturbance will move towards the central-south, bringing storms and snow to the Apennines. The northern part of the country will see an improvement, but strong and cold winds will persist, with rough seas and further snowfall expected in the Apennines at altitudes around 1100 metres. The bad weather will persist in the far south and in Sicily also on Thursday, with rains and thunderstorms in regions such as Puglia Salento, Basilicata, Sicily and Calabria, while there is an improvement in the centre.
In the weekend
Starting from Friday, a sudden improvement in weather conditions is expected across the entire Italian territory. Even with some light rainfall residual on the Tyrrhenian and Ionian areas of Sicily and Calabria, a gradual attenuation of atmospheric disturbances is expected. This positive trend will be further consolidated over the following weekend, thanks to the advance of high pressure from the Azores.
The combined effect of decreasing precipitation and atmospheric stabilization will help create a more favorable meteorological picture. The residual rainfall, concentrated mainly on the Tyrrhenian and Ionian regions of the Sicily and Calabria, should not significantly compromise the general improvement of the weather conditions. The progressive rise of the Azores high pressure will help to dissipate the residual instabilities and guarantee a more stable and serene period of time throughout the Italian peninsula.
