Weather alert. Important meteorological changes are affecting Europe, resulting in significant impacts expected in Italy. In the coming moments, bad weather is expected to hit increasingly lower altitudes, generating rain and snowfall across several regions.

A disturbance coming from Northern Europe has already reached Italy, moving towards the South and bringing a gradual improvement in the North. However, central regions and much of the South experience increased atmospheric instability, with initially erratic precipitation. As the hours pass, the rains will intensify, turning into localized showers. The affected regions include southern Tuscany, the Marche, Abruzzo and many areas of Lazio.

Puglia, the Ionian area, Tyrrhenian Calabria and the northern part of Sicily will also see anintensification of precipitation. The snowfall will cover the Apennines, with the snow level stabilizing around 1400/1500 meters in the Center and at higher altitudes in the South. During the day, the bad weather will concentrate on the central Adriatic coasts, the Ionian area and the lower Tyrrhenian Sea , with the snow falling to lower altitudes, up to 1100/1200 meters in the Marche and Abruzzo Apennines, and around 1400/1500 meters in the mountains of the southern peninsula.

During the late afternoon and evening, severe weather conditions are expected with intense rains and thunderstorms, especially in the areas of the lower Tyrrhenian Sea, in the south of Calabria and in the northern regions of Sicily. It is essential to pay attention to the winds, as we anticipate a significant strengthening of the Mistral on Sardinia and the arrival of cold Bora winds along the Adriatic coast. Friday 15 it will be characterized by an increase in cold northern winds. This situation will lead to more frequent snowfall at low altitudes along the central Adriatic and lower Tyrrhenian Sea.
