The Mafia only kills in the summer: new fiction by Raiuno inspired by the homonymous film by Pif
Three years ago with the film “The mafia only kills in the summer ", Pif, in the role of director and performer, he conquered critics and audiences, winning awards and depositing his "trademark", that is to use comedy to talk about deeply serious things. Telling, for example, with an ironic and never banal tone "Cosa Nostra", the Sicilian mafia. This same irreverent spirit wanted to transfer to the homonymous TV series in six evenings taken from the film and which will be broadcast on Raiuno from Monday 21 November, in which the director himself will be only the narrator.
From the story of a child to an autobiographical story
The series tells the story of Savior, a young protagonist with a strong sense of judgment, inspired by the character of Pif's film, who tells a period of his life: that of a child who lives in Palermo in the late 70s. But it is also a generational story that we can identify with.
An entirely Italian tale. At the center there is a family, that of the Gianmarresi, a normal family with its problems and its ordinary everyday events. There is a desire to settle down and have a decent life. The problem is that in order to achieve this aspiration, we often give in to small compromises. It is a fact that is valid in a general sense but, in the case of life in Palermo, there is the aggravating circumstance of the mafia. Thus, one small compromise after another, a city was handed over to organized crime.
We are in 1979, the year that marks the beginning of the season of excellent crimes: Cosa Nostra raises the bar and hits men from institutions like Boris Julian played by Nicola Rignanese and considered "hero in the fight against the mafia".
A fiction that sends a message: you can fight the Mafia with language and irony
Pif, first with the film and now with the fiction, wants to explain that the "mafia should be made fun of ". It must be represented in an ironic way but also respectful of the values represented by the struggle a Cosa Nostra. See the men who fought as men, normal people, so that everyone can see them as an example, that the citizen can imitate them with his own commitment, each in his own sphere.
