Capri hosts the Swedish film festival: meetings, guests and screenings in the magnificent setting of Villa San Michele. After the great success of the last edition, the Swedish Film Goes Capri, the Swedish film festival, returns from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 June. The event is held in Villa San Michele, on the splendid Campania island, in collaboration with theSwedish Embassy in Italy.

The initiative is organized by Axel Munthe Foundation, directed by superintendent Kristina Kappelin, with the patronage of Consulate of Sweden, of the Campania Region, of the City of Capri. And, again, by the Municipality of Anacapri, SIAE, the Swedish Embassy and in collaboration with Capri Palace Jumeirah, and Staiano Tour Capri. Many guests who will take turns in the four evenings: the actors Claudia Gusmano, Dario Aita, Nunzia Schiano, Jacopo Cullin, Lucrezia Guidone. Maria Vera Ratti, Alice Arcuri, Christoph Hülsen, the directors Marta Savina, Tarik Saleh and Fredrik Gertten, the Swedish ambassador to Italy Jan Björklund.

Created to promote Swedish cinema, this initiative met with unexpected success in the first edition, so much so that it laid the foundations for future editions. The screening of the films will be preceded by a short meeting/presentation, introduced by the superintendent of Villa San Michele Kristina Kappelin with guests. The program will be divided into four evenings: it opens on Wednesday 21 June starting at 20 pm with a preview of the festival in which the film Primadonna (2022) will be screened. An Italian-French production, by director Marta Savina, in collaboration with the Visionarie review.

Screenings and great guests

Thursday 22 June, at 20 pm, the Swedish screenings get underway with the Italian preview of the film The Emigrants, (2021), directed by Erik Poppe. The protagonist is the character of Kristina Nilsson, a mother who leaves an impoverished Sweden with her family in the 50s and embarks on a long and dangerous journey, hoping to find a better life for herself and her children in America. Friday 1800 June the film "The Cairo conspiracy" (23) by Tarik Saleh is scheduled, awarded at the Cannes with the Palme d'Or for the best film script. The film, a breathtaking thriller, will be anticipated by a debate between the director and the actor Jacopo Cullin.

Finally, the documentary will be screened on Saturday 24 June Breaking Social, (2023). The film will be introduced by a meeting with the director Fredrik Gertten and the actors Nunzia Schiano, Maria Vera Ratti and Christoph Hülsen as protagonists. Together with the director Kristina Kappelin, a focus will be created on the theme of the film: "commitment is needed". Breaking Social explores the possibilities of overcoming injustice and corruption, igniting the hope of positive change that lives in all of us.
