If today we open any social network and hear a little voice exclaim "Friends of My trip to New Yooork", we know that it is certainly about Piero Armenti. Let's go into America and New York with Piero. Piero is a young Italian who has been delighting us for years by telling us about the dream life of New York. Who is Piero and where does he come from? What brought him to New York and what is he doing there (besides making us live the American dream, of course)? Let's try to get to know him better!

We know Piero

Piero Armenti is a journalist and writer. Born in Salerno in 1979 in a family that teaches him very early to get busy. In fact, our compatriot graduated in Law and, subsequently, an irrepressible force of evasion pushed him to go abroad. First he goes to Spain, specifically to Alicante, then to Caracas, Venezuela, where he starts writing for the newspaper 'La Voce d'Italia'. He also writes articles for various magazines, including 'Panorama', and two books on Venezuela. Back home, our friend accesses a PhD at the University of Naples. And the PhD was convicted because, thanks to it, Piero arrives in New York, initially for a research on Junot Díaz (Dominican writer, naturalized American, who fascinates Piero).

Falling in love with the "Big Apple", Piero is determined to stay there for a long time. Our young friend begins to consider himself an 'urban explorer', using a New York term (ie one who spends a lot of time wandering around the city in order to scrutinize every corner). Thus, thanks to the activities on social networks (of which he can boast a total of about two million followers), he has the opportunity to start the agency 'My trip to New York', a tour operator dedicated to welcoming Italian tourists eager to discover the city.

With each new post by Piero, we are catapulted into the magical atmosphere of the "Big Apple": as if we could see its colors and be real citizens of the world. In addition, the moments when Piero makes our mouth water with photos like these are amazing:

The Italian in New York has remained the same boy as ever

Piero Armenti is one of the very few Italians to have passed the difficult New York tour guide competition. Today he is interviewed by newspapers, radios and magazines of all nationalities who want to keep up with the times and discover the latest trends overseas. Despite his success and popularity, however, Piero from Salerno remains an affable and cordial young man. Those who live in a foreign land, far from their homeland, often have a somewhat conflicting relationship with their land. In Piero's case, however, this conflict does not exist. He did not leave Italy for lack of opportunities, but because he intends to live exactly like this.

If Piero were to use three words to describe New York, he would choose: magic, madness, energy.

How Piero lives the Pandemic

In 2020 Piero published his first novel 'One night I dreamed of New York', in which he tells how the life of New Yorkers has changed and how it will change after the lockdown. There is in us, as Piero describes, an unstoppable desire to do and create, despite the waiting times in which we live. Sometimes all we crave is just beyond our fears (or beyond the ocean); Sometimes we just need a little more courage and resourcefulness to start living life to the fullest. We must make curiosity our creed and lifestyle, always looking for stimuli and pleasures to discover and experience.

What we are experiencing are difficult times: the pandemic and the consequent lockdown have forced us to reconsider our whole existence, our needs, our needs. We are living in a historical moment in which uncertainties and fears are many, but, to put it like Piero, behind every problem there is often an opportunity.

New York during the lockdown

Piero lived and is experiencing the lockdown in a partially vacant New York, where it is allowed to take a walk or a jog in Central Park. During the toughest stages, the restaurants did take-out and home deliveries and technically it was not forbidden to have dinners with friends. But the fear was palpable, as Piero says. "New York had emptied, many had moved into second homes and those who had lost their jobs had returned to their families." Piero, he never lost heart, even in the days when there was a deep despair, he kept us company with his direct and pleasant posts, raising the spirits.

Keep it up, Piero!

Piero's future projects certainly include opening up to new challenges and also entering the hotel sector. We can only wish good luck to our friend and all his team. See you soon, 'bro'!
