The words of the Governor De Luca
These are the words of the president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca: “The museum is not an isolated intervention: it is a piece of a great cultural, touristic, environmental and economic recovery plan for the whole Vesuvian area. The Vesuvius National Park Museum, together with the Virtual Archaeological Museum (MAV), another jewel of the territory, must be one of the strengths of the tourist and cultural revival of our region. Within 10 km we have the highest concentration of archaeological assets in the world. If all we have here - continued De Luca - had it been in France or Germany they would have built something unimaginable between Pompeii, Herculaneum, Boscoreale, Torre del Greco, Portici. A little further up, Campi Flegrei, Baia, the submerged city. We have unique things in the world that we have not been able to fully exploit ”.
The new Museum is part of a vast project that involves the construction of the new cable car on Vesuvius planned by the EAV. Also planned is a floral park and the construction of a large urban park that reaches the sea from Pompeii using the old railway network with also cycle paths. The goal is to create a great element of enhancement and tourist attraction of the whole Vesuvian area.
