The Artemis 1 SLS rocket was launched, it is the first mission to the moon. The launch of the Space Launch System of the NASA it took place this morning at 7.47 (Italian time) from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, after almost three months of postponements. After a long wait, a mission thus begins in which European and Italian technology also play a leading role. In addition to participating in the service form of Orion, to represent Italy in the mission is the small satellite Argomoon, made for ASI by the company Argotec di Torino. The Orion capsule will stay in space for about 26 days doing tests around the Moon, before returning to Earth by diving into thePacific Ocean.

On the Moon also the Italian ingenuity

"Italy confirms itself as a world excellence”. So the Minister of Industry and Made in Italy with delegation to SpazioAdolfo Ursoabout the success of the mission Artemis 1 of NASA, left this morning. The first mission of the great Artemis program that will bring man back to Luna, also sees NASA as partners with ESA and Italy with ASI. Urso says he is "proud of the Italian industry and technology aboard the Space Launch System". The minister recalled that "the only European nanosatellite on board is Argomoon, produced by a small company in Turin". Argomoon is a true jewel of technology and it will also work as a sort of 'small camera' capable of providing images that will then be used by NASA.

Artemis mission

The Artemis 1 mission it completed the maneuver that allowed it to leave the Earth's orbit and enter the trajectory towards the Moon, thanks to the thrust received from the upper stage of the SLS rocket. It is the second crucial moment of the mission, after the launch. “It is an important moment because the vehicle has freed itself from the Earth and is now on the final trajectory that will allow it to arrive in the vicinity of the Moon. And it will also allow other maneuvers to be carried out for entry into the lunar orbit”. This was reiterated by Bernardo Patti, head of the exploration programs of theEuropean Space Agency (hexa).
