Gregory Thetis, the engineer who becomes a super hero in the eyes of a child and his father who survived the hell of the Syrian war. Teti is the technical director of the Inail prosthesis center in Budrio: it will be he who will take care of little Mustafà El Nezzel and his father Munzir, both from Syria, a nation ravaged by war for years. In fact, precisely because of the war conflict, father Munzir lost his leg in a bombing. Little Mustafà, who is six years old, was instead born with a multi-malformation in the limbs due to the pollution generated by chemical weapons. Radiation which had harmful effects on pregnancy's mom Zeynep while she was expecting her baby.

In the Emilian capital he completed his studies atAlma Mater University where he earned a first degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on industrial automation and robotics. And a second degree in orthopedic techniques with the qualification to exercise the health professions. He taught all'Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro and he is currently a professor at the Alma Mater where he teaches "Materials technologies" for the course of study of "Orthopedic techniques". A long and intense career, which unfolds between specializations, numerous titles obtained, and a rich educational experience at national and international level. A decidedly demanding task that did not prevent him from 'saying yes' without delay to the proposal to give a new life to Mustafà and Munzir. The paths to be developed will be different: for father Munzir the road to normality is relatively short. Teti explains that, in a few weeks, the man will be able to move freely on his legs thanks to the prosthesis that will be implanted in Budrio. For Mustafà a rather complex path is foreseen as it deals with congenital plurimalformations. Therefore, it will not be enough just to implant new arms and new legs but there will be a need for a long psychological support. The doctors and technicians of the Emilian prosthesis center, thanks to their extensive experience, certainly are not discouraged: they are ready to experience this important adventure under the guidance of the 'super hero' engineer. The stakes are very high, to introduce happiness to Mustafà and to all his family.

Hardship of life

La story of Munzir and Mustafà has become global thanks to Mehmet Aslan's photo called 'Hardship of Life' (the difficulty of life) which has been around the world becoming the symbolic image of the Syrian war. A seemingly endless drama immortalized by an image that has won the Sipa 2021 (Siena international photo awards), the festival dedicated to the visual arts.

The El Nezzel family was taken over by the archdiocese of Siena, led by Cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudice, thanks also to the collaboration of many institutions. The Sienese Caritas welcomed Munzir, Zeynep, Mustafà and his two little sisters. The Sienese Church, together with a whole team of professional operators, will also take care of their insertion in the real context. Not only with treatments at the prosthesis center but also with targeted social inclusion paths so that the El Nezzel family finally rediscovers the beauty and joy of normality.
