In recent years, the technology sector in Italy has been growing very fast. Scholars, researchers or simple enthusiasts have given birth to companies and startups with great potential, despite the crisis. Little money, but so many ideas. And one of these beautiful realities is that of How much System, a Varese-based company specializing in the production of lasers. These days one of their jewels has been donated to Paul Getty Museum di Los Angeles, but this was only the latest in a long line of contributions.

Quanta System: the laser made in Italy

The history of the Quanta System is not very recent. Its foundation dates back to 1985 as a division of the CISE, one of the largest laser research centers in the world. Over the years the company has made its way into the sector, producing lasers for Space Agencies, CERN in Geneva and research centers around the globe. In recent years, the demand has become increasingly greater, leading the company to invoice several tens of millions of euros.
In 2016 the new factory was inaugurated which guarantees a production of over 8000 units per year.
Its lasers are considered to be among the best available, and requests come from multiple industries. Sectors ranging from medical to restoration. Several devices were donated directly to the Pope to help patients in various hospitals, and to the Vatican Museums for the restoration of some works.

The donation to the Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles

In recent days, the donation to the Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles has made headlines. Sculptures and other works will thus be able to come back to life thanks to Italian technology (in addition of course to the work of the restorers). A donation also intended to honor the memory of Khaled Asaad, an official of the Palmyra Museum killed by ISIS in 2015.
The contribution that the laser Thunder Compact will give to culture in the coming years is not indifferent.
In fact, the Californian museum contains collections from all over the world that span several centuries of world history: from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century, passing through our Renaissance. Masterpieces by Canaletto, Van Gogh, Cézanne and Titian animate the large rooms, while the bronze statue of Venus and Cupid, signed Sansovino, is the flagship of the museum. And this same statue will be one of the first works to be subjected to laser treatment made in Italy.
