They are called Trip e Kilo and they are two robots that we will soon see around the streets, shops and airports. Made by Piaggio, the task of these little automatons will be to make us life more light. How? Carrying heavy loads like a suitcase, shopping and anything else that can cause back pain.

Traveling with Gita and Kilo

Imagine you are at the airport. You are late and need to check in your luggage. We have to run, but a 20kg suitcase and hand luggage on the shoulder make everything difficult and tiring. Gita and Kilo in this case turn out to be the best possible help. These little robots can take charge of our efforts, following us everywhere without difficulty. With a speed of 35 kilometers per hour they will have no problem keeping up with it.
The differences between the two Piaggio creatures are in the size and transportable load. Gita is able to carry a load of around 20 kg while Kilo, with its 110 kg, is the big brother.

Both with 8-10 hours of autonomy and, most importantly, able to move without our assistance. This is thanks to a system of cameras and sensors that allow him to always have the surrounding environment under control and not lose sight of us. The only possible command will be the one we will give it through the smartphone with Google Maps.
But the function of Gita e Kilo is not just to carry our luggage along the corridors of a station or airport. Their use is aimed above all at everyday tasks such as shopping bags, small appliances or heavy boxes. The small size allows the two robots to easily enter supermarkets and shops, as well as small elevators. And if we can't enter with our automated helper, no problem: there is an alarm. Both are equipped with a fingerprint reader and a code to start.

The Piaggio Fast Forward

In 2015 the Piaggio Group founded the Piaggio Fast Forward, a research program for the mobility of the future. The operational headquarters are located in the USA and there are engineers, researchers and scientists from all over the world. The work is aimed exclusively at the mobility and transport sector. The goal is to search for new technologies that can be used on vehicles, but it is above all the field of robotics that receives the most attention. Gita and Kilo are in fact among the first projects carried out by the center. And although they are only prototypes, their development is still well underway. All that remains is to wait for the latest tests and the launch on the market, so as to have a robot capable of working hard for us.
