Once again the stories of Italy and Argentina are intertwined. There are tens of thousands of Italians who emigrated to Argentina in recent decades. Migrants who have entered, on tiptoe, into Argentine society. Migrants who have brought the love, the passion, the light-heartedness typical of the South America Italian, but who also brought their professionalism and helped the Argentine people as they themselves had been helped previously.
It happened, for example, that during the Argentine revolution in 1800, some Italians distinguished themselves for the help they provided to the Argentine troops. Heroes who are not forgotten in South America. For this reason, the Almirante Brown Association, together with the Ligurian Mutual Aid Association and the Syracusan Circle of the emblematic Boca district, which was able to host a gigantic community of Italian migrants in Buenos Aires, will carry on this Thursday an activity in honor of the Italian sailors who participated in the country's independence. The website 9colonne.it reports it.
A meeting with the reflections of the historians Beatriz Cirigliano and Enzo Luna will take place in the headquarters of the Circolo Siracusano. In addition, the paintings of the La Patria en el Mar group will be exhibited. These are the words on the site by Beatriz Cirigliano, president of the Almirante Brown Association: “We have decided to carry on the initiative on the occasion of a new anniversary of the death of Naval Colonel José Félix Muratore, Italian-Argentine who fought under the orders of Admiral Guillermo Brown in the war against Brazil. He participated in favor of the Argentine Confederation and also took part in the war of the Triple Alliance against Paraguay, and shaped these fights into paintings that are today faithful documents of these events".
Many heroes in Argentina arrived from Italy
Continuing, many others are mentioned in addition to Muratore Italian, such as Ceretti, Luis and Juan Cabassa, Alejandro Muratore, Denegri, Oneto, Susini and many others. These men were an irreplaceable part of those fights and battles that allowed the consolidation of the Argentine homeland. Many died fighting for Argentina, like true heroes.
The event will also be attended by the Consul General of Italy in Buenos Aires, Antonio Puggioni, the president of the Federation of Italian Catholic Associations in Argentina, Ana Claps. The event will end with the performance of the singer Facundo Rini. Therefore, an event that further consolidates the historical-cultural bond between Italy and Argentina.
