Italiani.it is partner of the international event entitled “1770-1920: 150 years of Patagonian cartography” which will take place in Montepulciano, in Tuscany. Our network, always attentive to national and world cultural events, is also present on this occasion, which involves numerous Italian and Chilean institutions, bodies and associations.
Alongside international bodies and institutions
Italiani.it is a partner of this important event alongside institutions such as the Academy of Fine Arts of Brescia "Santa Giulia", the Embassy of Chile in Italy, the Honorary Consulate of Chile in Florence, the Santiago Rotary Club, the Rotary Club Chianciano Chiusi Montepulciano, the municipalities of Montepulciano (Siena) and Sabbio Chiese (Brescia), the Tuscan Bibliographic Society, the Sociedad de Bibliofilos Chilenos, the Pigafetta 500 Committee.
Celebratory event
Italiani.it, by participating in this cultural meeting, also celebrates the 500 years from the discovery by Europe of the Strait of Magellan. “1770-1920: 150 years of Patagonian cartography”, promoted by the Tuscan Bibliographic Society in collaboration with the Chilean Bibliographic Society, is enriched with an exhibition of geographical maps of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Both companies have started, since 2019, a fruitful international cultural collaboration. The Chilean Bibliographic Society was founded in 1945, the Tuscan one in 2011 in Pienza (Siena). It includes bibliophiles, collectors and scholars, historians of the press and publishing, curious and passionate about ancient and modern books.
Promote culture
Italiani.it promotes the event by broadcasting it on the Facebook page. In recent days, our network has published an interview with the director of the Society of Chilean Bibliophiles, Norma Alcaman Riffo, director of the Museum of the Book of the Sea and ambassador of the Pigafetta 500 Association of Italy in Chile. The Society of Chilean Bibliophiles which boasts among its founders the Nobel Prize for literature Pablo Neruda, was founded in 1945 and aims to preserve the "culture of the book". To this end, it brings together collectors and scholars, promotes research and reprinting of ancient texts. This is a way to confirm the attention and openness of the network of Italians in the world to everything that is culture and dialogue between peoples.
