The next October 26 at Palazzo Zabarella a Padova one will be inaugurated prestigious exhibition ofcontemporary art. In fact, until March 1, 2020, it will be possible to visit Van Gogh, Monet, Degas. The Mellon Collection of French Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, with seventy canvases from the private collection of Paul and Rachel Bunny Lambert Mellon, inherited from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond.

A large exhibition in French

It will be inaugurated, as mentioned, on October 26th at Palazzo Zabarella in Padova the exhibition entitled Van Gogh, Monet, Degas. The Mellon Collection of French Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. This prestigious exposure will lead to the Venetian city ben seventy canvases by great French artists of the second half of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century belonged to Paul and Rachel Lamber Mellon.

The two, considered among the greatest patrons of the twentieth century, began to collect British and French works of art after their marriage. The nucleus that will be exhibited in Padua, in particular, was donated to the Virginia Museum of Fine Art in Richmond. The exhibition opens with the Jockey on horseback by Théodore Géricault and with the Woman watering a shrub by Berthe Morisot which they describe respectively Paul's love of horses and the passion for Rachel's home life. The exhibition continues through the great works of geniuses such as Degas, Van Gogh, Monet and Picasso, just to name a few. There will also be room for some interior views paintings by Matisse, Gauguin and Vallotton to underline the Bunny's passion for furniture. The woman, in fact, furnished her houses with greatness refinement, receiving guests of honor such as Elizabeth II of England and the Prince of Wales.

Opening times and dates of the exhibition in Padua

The exhibition at Palazzo Zabarella in Padua will be open to visitors until March 1 of the next year. The curator of the event will be none other than Coleen Yarger, which was responsible for the creation of the catalog of the Mellon Collection. The organization, on the other hand, was possible thanks to the collaboration between the Bano Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to enhancing and promoting the culture and art of the Italian nineteenth and twentieth centuries, which takes care of the management of the Paduan building, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts of Richmond.

The exhibition will be open every day from 9.30 to 19 with the exception of 25 December, the day of extraordinary closure. Palazzo Zabarella, on the other hand, will remain regularly open on 1 November, 8 and 26 December 2019 and on the dates of 1 and 6 January 2020. It will observe reduced time (from 9.30 to 17.30), finally, on 24 and 31 December.

For minors there is a special rate of 9 €, While children up to 5 years do not pay (exemption excluded for school groups).
