We can well say that Gambarie is the first ski resort in the South, immersed in a suggestive naturalistic setting and with avant-garde accommodation facilities. In 1956, in fact, the first chairlift in Southern Italy was built there with the first ski slope. Over time, of course, the plants have increased and Gambarie itself has grown as a mountain center. However, it always remains a fine example of perfect between nature, landscape and town.

Skiing while looking at the sea

The station is located at 1.400 meters above sea level above sea level which is clearly distinguishable from the slopes. A unicum between mountain and sea landscape which constitutes a unique and rare naturalistic beauty. Leaving the town you can visit the spectacular Maesano waterfalls, the former American base of Nardello, the top of Montalto, the highest in the Aspromonte at almost 2 metres. And, again, the Monument of Nino Martino, a very particular group of rocks which, according to legend, was born from the stones dropped by wayfarers in the place where the famous Calabrian brigand Nino Martino (known as Cacciadiavoli) lost his life. Also in the area is the sanctuary of Our Lady of Polsi (“To Madonna dâ Muntagna”) very ancient place of worship still today a pilgrimage destination all year round.
