Winter meeting in June

The celebration of the “Día de la República Italiana” took place on the evening of May 31 in the garden of the Embassy in Santiago. The austral winter still in covid time suggested the party was outdoors, but in a heated marquee. Even if, needless to say, the warmth was given to us by the participants! After the national anthems (it is difficult to explain what it means to hear the notes of theanthem of Mameli abroad...!) And the words of the ambassador, the evening was a pleasant one opportunities for meeting and partying for a large representation of the Chilean Italian spirit, with the presidents of the Italian regional associations, of the tricolor cultural, social and sporting institutions and of more recently formed associations.

Mirtha and Valentina were thankfully surprised by the manifestations of esteem and affection received both by the Embassy and by friends and readers of itChile present at the event. "Your media brought freshness to what was happening in the Italian community ", expressed Mario Fortunato, president of the “Council of the Italian community in the Valparaíso region”. “Show things you don't see elsewhere. And then, unwittingly itChile is a sort of virtual archive of stories of emigration, of activities and news that, by remaining on the site, are preserved, as in a museum, even when their protagonists are no longer with us ". These are some aspects of the mission that drives the work of the young staff of itChile, in perfect synchrony with that of the whole Italiani.it network. These are values that Ambassador Mauro Battocchi and his staff - who pursue them with considerable enthusiasm - evidently have recognized in itChile as part of the large italiani.it family.

In short, for “ours” it was an opportunity to reap what itChile has sown. The invitation itself, as mentioned, represented a recognition of the work done and meeting so many people who love Italy in Chile, allowed us to "better understand what our work means" for the readers. "We are impressed by the speed with which our media has grown", confesses Mirtha. “In a year and a half we have reached the hearts of the people of the Italian community, and we have been able to to network with many. All this has paid off for her. Making conversation with actors, diplomats, entrepreneurs, sportsmen is always an opportunity to exchange news, ideas, projects ... in short: beautiful things to tell our readers.

Italian style

It was a gala evening, in the name of elegance, among the stands of italic delicacies (cheeses, salami, focaccia, lasagnette ... and then coffee, liqueurs, aperitifs, beers and wines ...), skillfully conducted by the actress Alessandra Guerzoni. A moment to celebrate the initiatives born from Italian-Chilean cooperation, and then, to enjoy the beautiful song of the three of thelyric vocal ensemble Manifesto. We also danced, to the rhythm of Italian music, and not, of yesterday and today. And so, after the meetings and conversations, adds Mirtha, "We laughed, sang ... we had fun ... Italian style!". And this is another great way to experience Italy and be Italian. In Italy, in Chile and in every part of the world.
