With the song "Beautiful to die" they have shaped an indelible seal in the world of Italian music, a victory to be framed in 1977 at the Sanremo Festival, millions of records sold all over the world, let's talk about Homo Sapiens. "You will come back I will come back", "Two apples", "One summer ago", just some of the hits of the historic musical group. Marzio Mazzanti, Claudio Lumetta, Maurizio Nuti, Stefano Vincenti, Maurizio Novi and Ivano Petti, these are the members of the current line-up. For a pleasant interview exclusively for italiani.it, we reached Maurizio Nuti, voice and lead guitarist of Homo Sapiens. Fasten your seat belts, the journey into Italian music continues ...

Thanks for your time Maurizio, would you like to tell the readers of italiani.it your memories of our compatriots around the world?

First of all, thanks to italiani.it for this interview. You know, our first concert abroad dates back to 1976. In our career we have known all the Italian communities in the world. Italian Americans, Australians, just some of the many. Even today, after several generations, our traditions are respected.

Your emotions on stage during the Homo Sapiens concerts?

I think all this can be imagined (smiles ed). You know, the winner of a Sanremo Festival is very important for all Italians abroad. After Modugno and Claudio Villa the force majeure comes from Sanremo. The emotion was really great (he is moved ed).

How many records have you sold in your career?

It is not easy to find the right answer to your question. Markets used to be very different. Consider that the song "Tornerai Tornerò" conquered the charts of South America for 2 years. In any case, I think about 40 million records, or rather 45s. You know, (he reflects ed) with Gattuso, a well-known Calabrian impresario, we managed to do a beautiful tour in Australia of 20 dates. Currently, requests are coming in for a single concert.

What does Italian music tell?

Italian music tells it all. We come from Verdi's melodrama: those are our roots. Inside the Italian music we perceive the emigration of the Neapolitans, the many emotions of the Sicilians and the restaurant of the people of Lucca (he smiles), just to name a few.
