A special birthday that is being celebrated throughout Italy with a myriad of events and initiatives of all kinds. The writer was born in Omegna in Piedmont in 1920. For a few years he taught at primary school but after the Second World War he embarked on a career as a journalist. He collaborates with several newspapers and periodicals, including Unity, Pioneers  e Evening country. In the XNUMXs, he began to publish his works for children, which achieved great success with the public and critics. The success gives him considerable notoriety, so much so that his publications are translated into many languages ​​and obtain numerous awards and recognitions. Among these, in 1970, he also won the prestigious “Hans Christian Andersen” prize, considered the Nobel Prize in children's literature.
