A special birthday that is being celebrated throughout Italy with a myriad of events and initiatives of all kinds. Schools, theaters, libraries, organizations and institutions have remembered the great writer and poet in this year. Numerous events have already taken place and still many are in the pipeline. Truly a great anniversary for a poet who has given the younger generations true masterpieces of writing. Gianni Rodari
The writer was born in Omegna in Piedmont in 1920. For a few years he taught at primary school but after the Second World War he embarked on a career as a journalist. He collaborates with several newspapers and periodicals, including Unity, Pioneers e Evening country. In the XNUMXs, he began to publish his works for children, which achieved great success with the public and critics. The success gives him considerable notoriety, so much so that his publications are translated into many languages and obtain numerous awards and recognitions. Among these, in 1970, he also won the prestigious “Hans Christian Andersen” prize, considered the Nobel Prize in children's literature.
In the following years (1973s and XNUMXs) he participated in debates and conferences in schools which also involved teachers, pupils and their own parents. From these encounters another of his works was born which saw the light in XNUMX, the Grammar of fantasy. A book that becomes a point of reference for those involved in reading education and children's literature. Rodari died in Rome in 1980.
