Discovering Florence in the footsteps of Tom Hanks

Florence is one of the most visited cities of art in the world. But also a very popular set for Italian cinema. There are many films shot in this wonderful city. From Chronicles of Poor Lovers to My Friends, from Portrait of a Lady to A Room with a View to Hell by Ron Howard.

Florence: a city "marked" by Hell

The film full of Dante references and taken from the homonymous book by Dan Brown includes an exceptional cameo: the mayor Dario Nardella in the role of tour guide.
The mark of Hell on Florence. Ron Howard's blockbuster colonizes the Tuscan city.
In the wake of the success of the film, the path followed in the historic center of the Florentine capital by Robert Langdon, the protagonist professor played by Tom Hanks and his partner Sienna Brooks, the actress Felicity Jones, has become a tourist itinerary that includes the symbolic places of the cradle of the Renaissance.

It begins with the Tower of Palazzo Vecchio, the scene of a chase, to continue with Piazza della Signoria.
The protagonists also move between via della Spada, piazzale di Porta Romana, the Boboli Gardens, an urban green lung, the famous Uffizi Gallery with its artistic masterpieces, the Baptistery of San Giovanni. The lion's share, however, is made by Palazzo Vecchio with the homonymous bridge over the Arno and with the Vasari Corridor, an elevated path which, passing over the bridge, connects Palazzo Vecchio with Palazzo Pitti, crossing the Uffizi.

It should be borne in mind that not all stages are easy to visit, because some of them require reservations.

The name of the religious, the subject of a mockery hatched by the Certaldesi, is not accidental. The red onion is one of the local excellences. They make jams.
Absolutely not to be missed is the tour through the alleys of Certaldo alto, with souvenir photos in front of the writer's house.

Florence: cheers on the Lungarino

What could be better than indulging in an aperitif before dinner, admiring a unique panorama? On the Lungarno there are plenty of places to eat snacks accompanied by a good glass of white wine.
And for dinner, free space for local specialties, starting with the Florentine steak. Alternatively there are other delicacies such as pappa al pomodoro, ribollita and lampredotto (a kind of tripe).
Among the wines, Chianti and Brunello stand out.
