For gender equality in Italy this is an important result. And it is also the same for the company that this result has achieved. This is the Ferrari of Maranello. The result is to have adopted a equal pay for men and women with the same qualifications and the same duties. To recognize and make it known is not only Ferrari but a Swiss foundation, the Equal Salary, which has awarded the well-known car manufacturer from Maranello a specific quality certification. Not an impromptu recognition but rather the result of a study that lasted eight months.

The survey was conducted by the Pwc international network which worked on the basis of a specific protocol recognized by the European Commission. Hence, a quality mark. The result has an added value also because we are talking about a car company among the first in the world. Where the value of the male figure, at least in terms of image, would seem to be predominant over the female one. Instead it is not like that.

Men or women, at Ferrari professionalism is rewarded

"Ours is an inclusive environment that respects gender differences - explains the Maranello company with satisfaction - An environment that takes the professional development of each of our collaborators into great consideration. Regardless of whether they are a man or a woman. We work with constant commitment and respect for gender differences ". The Ferrari is the first Italian company to have received this coveted certification. This is a really important result if you think that on a global level there is no country that has achieved gender equality.

Regardless of the area in which it is located, the type of economy and its level of development. Italy in particular, according to the Global Gender Gap Report 2020, has even dropped by six positions, from 70th to 76th place worldwide, in the ranking of countries that implement the equality of wage. Generally, women are paid 20 percent less than men.

The difficult path of working women

In reality, ours is a country where wages are established by collective bargaining agreements, therefore wage discrimination between men and women is not allowed. But these discriminations often creep into the folds, for example, of higher tasks performed by the worker than her actual company position.

Without forgetting that the bargaining power of one womens he is frequently conditioned by his family situation. And in order to be able to access, for example, a minimum of flexibility on the hour, pejorative classification and salary conditions are also often accepted.

Equal pay serves to attract and develop talent

Not at Ferrari, where women make up 14 per cent of the nearly 4300 employees. "We are proud to receive this certification. For us it represents an important milestone in making our workplace respectful of differences and inclusive - thus the CEO of the prancing Horse, Louis Camilleri. Equal pay and equal opportunities in our company is not just about a principle of fairness. It is a fundamental pillar for attracting, retaining and developing the best talents and thus stimulating innovation and our growth in the long term ”.
