Despite government efforts and airline protests, the high cost of flights persists, with prices approaching those of an intercontinental flight, according to Assoutenti's monitoring.
Dear Christmas 2023 flights, prices to reach the south
For a trip to Sicily from Bologna on December 23 with a return on January 7, the cost of a return ticket can reach up to 521 euros. Catania follows with a minimum price of at least 465 euros. Starting from Turin and heading to Catania, the minimum spend is 446 euros, while from Pisa it starts from 441 euros. The Genoa-Catania flight exceeds 400 euros per passenger, settling at 404 euros. For trips from Milan to Palermo, prices start from 399 euros, with the possibility of increasing up to 706 euros depending on the time and the airline selected.

Even to reach the Sardinia, the phenomenon of tariff increases is evident. To fly from Pisa to Cagliari, the minimum spend is 395 euros, while from Bologna it starts from 381 euros. From Venice, the minimum fare is 345 euros, and from Turin there is a minimum of 297 euros. It is important to note that these basic figures do not include any additional costs linked to baggage or seat choice, elements which could further influence the overall cost of the flight.

Furio Truzzi, the president of Assoutenti, highlights that the high cost of flights during the holidays represents a financial burden growing for citizens, configuring itself as a persistent problem without a solution. The problem linked to expensive flights will be one of the main topics addressed during Consumer Expo 2023, scheduled in Naples from 12 to 14 December.
