In these days Francesco Bulli, 16, from Monfalcone, has proved himself to be a real one talent Italian. The national press and not only recognizes him the merit of having invented one mathematical formula with which to effectively circumvent the Archimedes' theorem.
The formula
These days through the chicchieratissima didactics at a distance Francesco found himself carrying out a mathematics assignment assigned by the teacher Caterina Vicentini, her teacher and motivator. To finish the exercise as soon as possible, Francesco worked out a quick formula. An unprecedented formula, above all. It is applicable not only to the specific question that has been assigned to it but to all analogous cases that refer to Archimedes' Theorem. In fact, the assigned problem required the calculation of the area of a parabolic segment - using, in practice, Archimedes' theorem. The high school student with his new (and repeatable) method has simplified the procedure by obtaining the same solution as the classic method.
The formula in question seems completely unknown to mathematicians. Such a simple and brilliant shortcut, which until today has eluded everyone. Except for Francesco, obviously. The anomaly was immediately reported by Professor Caterina Vicentini (the first to be confused, and today the first fan of Francesco) to two authoritative magazines in the sector. In a few days the formula has already found publication on Mathematics Mind, edited by Professor Luciano Corso, president of the Italian Society of Mathematical and Physical Sciences Mathesis of Verona. And soon it will be revived for the international audience on Uitwiskeling, edited by Michel Roelens.
Francesco
Professor Vicentini confesses that she has never encountered such a talented student in thirty years of teaching. "Francesco dominates algebraic calculus in an exceptional way compared to his age and is not afraid to ask himself questions and try to answer himself": She proudly declares. This formula leaves the scientific community speechless. It is exceptional that such a young boy created it.
Francesco is a decidedly out of the ordinary guy. "I've always liked math - confess - and this is also thanks to my mother who always showed it to me as something fascinating to discover. Especially in middle school, thanks to my teacher, I got more and more passionate and I started to deepen the subject in all its facets ".
However, he is not the usual nerd, he is keen to point out, who spends his days solely on books. Far from it. He loves life and cultivates his passions. There music for example. He studied the violin and won several prizes playing it.And after all, studying formulas and instruments aside, to make him really a normal Italian boy is his secret dream, which is the same as many boys of his age: to become a soccer player famous. And he's working on it. After his debut at Torre, a team from his Pordenone district, and the ranks in the Prata-Falchi youth teams, since last August he has played as central defender in the youth teams of Triestina. Research institutes and international universities will therefore have to wait a while before competing for it.
